Alexandria Library Egypt / Bibliotheca Alexandria. The Library of Alexandria is one of the most important Libraries in the World Today, and holds a long History being that it is one of the Libraries of the Ancient World, also the Library is renowned for the splendid design, plus hosting many Books in a variety of different fields. The Library which dates back to the Prehistoric Era, especially in the Year of Three Hundred and Thirty BC. However it is believed that it’s discovery was made approx.. forty two Years before this date, and by examining the History Books, we can depict that the Library of Alexandria was included in plans of Alexander the Great, who established the City of Alexandria, as he wanted a vast Library similar to the one in Greece at that time. There is a big disagreement about the identification of the Person who constructed the Library for the first time in History, some are under the understanding that the first Person to construct it was Alexander who included it in his plans when he built and planned the City, where others believe and argue that the first to construct the Library was Ptolemy I. The Bibliotheca Alexandria which stands on the Alexandrian Corniche is a huge, distinct example of Modern Twenty First Century architecture, although the construction refers to something much older. The Cultural Centre and Library were launched in 2002 as a part of a vast project to commemorate the City of Alexandria’s Legacy as an Ancient Centre of Global Learning and Culture. The Alexandria Library was discovered in the Third Century BC, shortly after the finding of the City as a new Capitol of Egypt, by Alexander the Great. It is depicted as one of the greatest acheivements within the Legacy of Ancient Alexandria since the Library and Museum, the larger Institution of Learning of which was part of the Library, are credited with preserving most of the knowledge of the Ancient World. Unknown as to when the Great Library and Museum were exactly destroyed, but the date is approximated at sometime at the beginning of the Roman Era in Egypt 31 BC. Nobody can tell how much Ancient knowledge was lost in the Fire that destroyed the Library. The Modern Complex strives to restart the intellectual light that at one time shone out from Alexandria. The Library consists of a vast and visually striking Main Reading Room, including space for storage of approx.. nine million Books, however the Complex also houses several smaller specialized Libraries , a Conference Centre, Art Galleries to include both permanent and temporary exhibitions, plus a Planetarium. The outside of the construction is decorated with characters of One Hundred and Twenty different written Languages in reference to the abundant amount of knowledge from around the World which was once hosted in the Great Library.
