Museum of Islamic Art/Cairo. The Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo is considered the largest Museum which specializes in Islamic Art in the World, as it hosts more than One Hundred Thousand Masterpieces that includes all Sections of Islamic Art from different Eras. In 1902 the Museum was opened for the first time and the target of the establishment was to collect Islamic Antiquities and Documents from many parts of the World, for example Egypt, North Africa , the Levant, India, China, Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. The Museum consists of two different Floors and the first includes exhibition Halls, whilst the second hosts the Storage., also a Hall which houses the Collection of the Muhammad Ali Era, which has been added to recently. The collection at the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo, reflects the wealth of Cairo’s past, showcasing a varied collection of Artifacts from over the Muslim World that ended up in Cairo due to it’s impact in various ages of Islamic History. However although it has not recently been on the Traditionall Tourist Path of Cairo, this is because it has only recently been opened after a Ten Year Refurbishment. The Museum exhibits a wealth of Artifacts which displays the full collection of Islamic Arts, deriving from Archetectual forms and ornamentation from the Monuments and Mosques of Cairo, to decorated Manuscripts from Persia, and amazingly crafted Home Products and Carpets from Turkey and also the Maghrab. It is most definatley worth taking a visit to respect the beauty of the artistic forms and styles that the Islamic Culture produces whilst working around the Koranic direction against the portrail of The Allah or the Prophet Muhammed, expanding instead an Ornate Skill in creating geometric and floral images. The Museum is located on Port Said Street which lies on the Border between Downtown and Islamic Cairo.
