One of the most famous Egyptian Kings to rule Egypt in it’s Golden Age was Ramses II, as he is the mightiest third Pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt King Seti I passed the Crown to Prince Ramses who turned to Ramses II, supplying him with a Harem, and House Prince of Egypt Ramses engaged in Military Campaigns with his Father where he gained a solid Military and Kingship experience before becoming King.

Who is King Ramses II ?
One of the most forceful and controlling Pharaoh’s to have ruled Egypt in it’s Golden Age was Ramses II, being the strongest third Pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt, King Seti I passed the Crown to Prince Ramses who turned to Ramses II.
Leading several expeditions and concentrated on achieving his goals. This reflected his foresight of a great Nation and earned him the Title of Ruler of Rulers, thus giving the reason why he is praised as Ramses the Great by History fans, Egypt was also at it’s high point of Glory and Power in his reign of 66 Years.
Who are Ramses II Children?
Ramses II Early Life and Family.
The significant Pharaoh is also known as for the number of Wives he had and the amount of Children that he Fathered, although the Historians cannot asses the exact number they speculate close to 162 Children. Few of the Children that are known of are… Amun-her-Khepeshaf first born of Nefertari , Merneptah, Ramesses, Meritamen, Nebettawy, Khaamweset and many others.
It weas not the first Son of Ramses who was his immediate successor but his third Son who reigned for 66 Years .
Ramses outlived many of his Children, his 13th Son Merrieptah who became his eventual successor who was 60 years of age.
Born approx.. 1303 BC Ramses II, came from an ordinary Egyptian Family . The Pharaoh Sethi I, and Queen Tuya were his Parents, and Ramses was named after his Grandfather Ramses I who had through his Militrary expertise elevated their Non-Royal Family to Royalty.
Being raised in the Royal Court of Egypt Ramses was trained and educated by his Father. He received this privilege because his Father became Pharaoh when Ramses was only 5 Years of Age.
Ramses at the time had an older Brother who was the next in line to become Pharaoh , but he dies when Ramses was approx.. 14 years of age, so Ramses II was proclaimed second in command throughout his Father’s Military Campaigns, and was therefore positioned directly in line to become the Pharaoh of Egypt.
Ramses having been crowned as The Prince married Nefertari who was his first and most loved Wife. Being alluded to as the Royal Wife of the Pharaoh became powerful in her own ability. Throughout their marriage the Royal pair had at least four Sons and two Daughters and could have possibly been more.
Ramses II Facts.
• Interested in Military Campaigns including Nubia, Levant, Libya, Syria and the Middle East. When he was 14 years of age.
• Ramses refurbished many constructions and had many New Palace projects.
• Ramses had several names but the most important two were his Royal Name and original Name.
• Royal name was Waser Maat Ra in Ra, meaning Strong Ra and Maat.
• Original Name Ra Miss Su Meri Anun means Spirit of Ra or beloved of Anun.
• Also built many impressive Temples and Statues, among the most important Abu Simbel Temples Ramesseum Temple.
• Ramses was buried in the Valley of the Kings, but his Mummy was transferred to Deir-El-Bahari, which was discovered in 1881, then transferred to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo five years later.
The acheivements of Ramses II
Ramses II made many acheivements in his reign. His great locve of building and refurbishing led him to build many Great Monuments in Karnak, Luxor Thebes, Abydos, Tanis, Memphis and Nubia. The most famous being Abu Simbel Temples, which are located in the Mountains of South Aswan. Abu Simbel is most famous because it is so different from other Ancient Egyptian Temples, the reason being a phenomenon which happens twice a year when the Sun rises and illuminates the Face of Ramses inside his Temple which has attracted the attention the whole World over.
He also built the Ramsseum Temple, Morturary Temple of King Ramses II.
Ascend to the Throne of Egypt.
When he was 14 years of age Ramses was appointed Crown Prince by his Father Seti I, it is alleged that he would sit on the Throne and gain experience from observing his Father. He was also known to have ruled Egypt from 1279BC-1213BC this was a period of 66 Years.
Military Skills.
Two years after being in Power Ramses II decided to confront one of the most important groups which was known as the Genres De Mar Shardana. The function of this group was the Piracy of the Ships from Egyptian Territory.
The Pharaoh very cleverly hid Military Troops and Ships on the Beaches near to one of the Nile Delta Mouths, while a group of apparently unprotected Merchant Ships served as bait.
The mighty Ling Ramses II, recorded scenes of celebrating his Victory in the Battle of Kadesh over the Hitties in many, many scenes and writings in it’s Monuments which spanned the Country in it’s entirety , and when Ramses was a young Prince he was greatly influenced by all the Military Traditions .

What was the importance of Ramses II?
Acclaimed in History for signing of the First Ever Peace Treaty.
Being that the Battle of Kadesh did not reach a definite enf, two Countries remained on the Brink of War for several years.
Finally, in 1258BC Ramses selected to sign and abide by one of the first Major Peace Treaties in History with the Hitties. By signing the Peace Treaty this made Ramses the first Ruler in the World to do so.
Also being successful in initiating a Peaceful Northern Boarder through the rest of his Rule.
The Best Works of Ramses including Buildings and Monuments.
Acclaimed as a Great Builder Ramses II was fascinated with all different styles of architecture and throughout his 66 year long reign he renovated many Monuments Temples and Structures.
Two of his most celebrated works includes the vast Temples of Abu Simbel and Ramesseum.
These two Monuments show a New Style of architecture when it comes to design and size.
However the distinctive features that is familiar in both of the Temples is the Giant Statue of Ramses.
Other than these Temples Ramses also constructed the New Ancient Egyptian Capital City which was known as Pi-Ramesses , while the King’s rule advanced the City displayed numerous vast Temples, extended Palatial Complex and extrodinary
Infrastructure.
Ramses II Temples.
King Ramses constructed numerous Temples the first being the Temples of Abu Simbel, which is a Temple of his own which became immortalized by the Great Gods of Egypt, others are the small Temple of his Wife Nefertari, Temple of Pi-Ramses in the Delta, the Great Karnak Temples and the Morturary Temple of Ramesseum.
The Family home of Ramses II was on the Nile River Delta, a reason for him to construct a residence City called Per Ramessu which translates into House of Ramses, Biblical Ramses, his City became well known for it’s amazing Gardens, Waterfalls and Orchards.
For the time in which he lived, Ramses II lived an exceptionally long Life. By the time of his Death at the age of 90 he had out lived many of his Wives and Children, however his long Lofe and Reign as King permitted him to leave behind a great legacy as a builder,
Ramses is acknowledged with constructing several of the Largest Monuments in Egypt, including that of a vast Memorial Temple Ramesseum in West Bank Luxor, Abu Simbel Temples plus several other Monuments.
Ramses II, did not build Luxor Temple but his renovation filled it with reliefs and Sculptures which depicted his escapades, also contributing to the Temple Complex of Karnak.
The amazing Tomb of his Wife Nefertiti in the Valley of the Queens is another spectacular Monument including the Colossal Statue of him which is at Memphis, close to Cairo.

Footnote…. The Two Great Statues were discovered near the Temple of the God Ptah, where Ramses near the Gods of Ancient Egypt was proof of his making himself a Great Figure.
When did King Ramses II Die?
Ramses II reign gradually came to an end, dying at the age of 90 because of Arthritis, and was buried first in the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Thebes, Modern Luxor in KV7.
The same as Queen Nefertari’s Tomb, which is one of the most distinguished architectural wonders of Ancient Egypt, Ramses also had a distinguished Burial Chamber, but to keep his Mummy safe from any Robbers it was moved to an unknown Location.
In 1881 it was rediscovered in a Secret Royal Cache at Deir-El-Bahri. Further on in 1885 the Mummy of the Mighty Pharaoh was placed in the Egy[tian Museum in Cairo.
Housed in the British Museum in London, one Statue of the Pharaoh Ramses II, called the Younger Memnon.
The Legacy Lives on.
In 1974 Egyptologists in the Cairo Museum observed the condition of Ramses II Mummy was rapidly deteriorating , so it was flown to Paris for more research and medical examination to be carried out.
The Pharaoh was issued with an Egyptian Passport which showed his occupation as King of Egypt Deceased.
It was discovered that the mighty Pharaoh had sharp features with a pointed nose and a strong chiseled jaw, it was also declared that he was a Redhead with a tall muscular Body.
Known as the Great Ancester by his civilization the King was honored by other Pharaohs who took the Regal name of Ramses.
As he was the 2nd longest reigning King of Ancient Egypt he helped the Egyptian Culture to prosper. The Statues and Monuments which he constructed still survive to this Day which generates a brilliant revenue to Egyptian Tourism.
