Montazah Park Alexandria / Egypt. These Gardens were constructed more than One Hundred Years ago, when Khedive Abbas Helmy II, ordered them to be built. Within the interior of the Montazah Gardens there are facilities for Tourists, established after the Egyptian Revolution to serve the Gardens for the Public, these include Restaurants , an intergrated Tourist Centre, Chalets and Playgrounds. The Montazah Gardens has a view over Five Beaches, which are Aida, Cleopatra, Phenicia and Samir Amis, which in addition has a Private Beach at Helnan Palestine Hotel. The Royal Montazah Gardens are a Group of Gardens which are rich in Trees, and Flowers and has an Area of approx.. Three Hundred and Seventy Acres, which is in the Montazah District in the East of Alexandria in Egypt.. The Main Building which is constructed in the Italian Florentine Style as well as the Salamlek Palace. After the building of the Salamlek Palace, the Area had not yet taken it’s current Form, and was a Palace located on the edges of Alexandria on the Beach which was in the middle of a thick area of Trees. Alexandria which was predominatley the Place where Wealthy Cairenes went to evade the heat of the Summer being that the Meditteraenian City’s Climate is much milder than the Capitol which lies Two Hundred and Twenty Five Kilometers to the South. This included the controlling Family of Egypt, Khedive Abbas II, the Ruler of the Khedivate of Egypt and Sudan from 1892 to 1914, and constructed Montazah along the Alexandrian Coastline as a Summer Residence. Although since the Free Officers Revolution in 1952 exited the controlling Family from Power , the Montazah Palaces and Gardens have been much less exclusive than they were at one time. The Gardens which are now well maintained and very charming public seaside park, also it is a most relaxing place to take walks in Alexandria and for a very very cheap price. Within the Grounds there stood two Palaces, the first one being Al Salamlik which was constructed in 1892 as a Hunting Lodge for the Khedive and his companions. The Palace was refurbished during the 1970s to serve as a Official Presidential Residence throughout the Summer Months. Untill the development of Sharm El-Sheikh during the 1990s and the Building of a Presidential residence there Hosni Mulbarak also used it as a Summer Residence, plus it has recently been reopened as a Luxury Hotel. King Fuad who was the final successor of the Muhammed Ali Dynasty before the 1952 Revolution, constructed the larger Al Haramlik Palace in 1932 with a unique archetectual Style that combines both the Turkish and the Florentine influencies. In the present day al Haramlik hosts a Public Museum to History and Art of the Dynasty of the Muhammed Ali.
