The Divine Triad of Dendera.

The history of Dendera dates back to the pre – dynastic era in Ancient Egypt, as the proof by the Ancient Tombs near the Wall of the Temple of Hathor. Dendera was the Capitol of the sixth region of Upper Egypt, and the trinity was worshiped in it, Hathor, Hor Bhadti and Hor Ehya.

The City of Dendera was mentioned in Ancient Egyptian Mythology, as it was the scene of one of the Battles which took place between Hor, the God of Edfu the husband of Hathor, the Goddess of Dendera and Set, the evil God who killed Osiris the Father of Hor. The Temple of Dendera is located on the West Bank of the River Nile approx.. five KM Northwest of the City of Qena, however it was known in the Egyptian texts as Tantert which means the Gods, in reference to the Goddess Hathor, then in Greek became Tenters and in Arabic Dandara. The first triad of Hathor, the second is for Osiris. The Temple of Dendera is one of the few Temples in which two triads are worshiped , the first the trinity of Hathor, second Osiris. The Temple  is famous for the astronomical scenes which are depicted on the Ceiling , including the many scenes showing the Kings and Emperors making offerings to the Gods.

Location.

The divine triad or Family Unit of Dendera is carved in a relief on the South exterior wall of the Temple of Hathor which is located at the North of Luxor.

Explanation.

In the typical Egyptian way Ihy is represented from right to left as a child, he is naked and wears the side lock of hair which is barely visible. Suitable to his role as the unit of the two Lands,

He wears the Double Crown of Upper and Lower Egypt . In his left hand he carries a Sistrum , which is a rattle that was used as an instrument to ward off Evil Spirits. The Sistrum which was especially associated with his Mother Hathor, the Goddess of Love and Music. In his right hand he holds a Menat, which is also associated with Hathor, a broad collar necklace with counterpoise which could also be used as a percussion Instrument. Hathor is shown as a Woman wearing a crown of cow horns, holding a sun disk. Horus who is the God of the Sky, combines the body of a Man with the head of a Falcon, and also wears the Double Crown of Egypt.
