The Blue Hole is a Diving Hole on the Coast of The Red Sea. The Area around the hole has an abundance of Corals and Fish. Professional Divers find themselves particularly drawn to the Site of the Area connecting The Blue Hole and the Open Sea, however the entire Site is a magical experience in itself, as the sights of the Light Formations and Marine Fauna and Flora make for a rich and lasting memory for the visiting Divers. Referred to by many as the Divers Cemetary the reason being it is very deceptive in it’s appearance as it seems to be less deeper than it actually is, so needs to have Trained Divers and proper Equipement. The Red Sea provides many Diving Sites for Divers visiting Egypt from all over the World, including an array of Sea Life. For the experienced Diver in search of one of the best diving experiences they can discover come to Dahab to Egypt’s most famous Diving Sites, which is The Blue Hole. Regarded a Submarine Sinkhole, including a maximum depth which reaches over one hundred meters, The Blue Hole is not for the beginner Diving experience as it requires high diving skills and a lot of self confidence. However for the Divers who wish to Dive and explore the fantastic Diving Site will have the experience of a Lifetime. Sadly for those who did dive but did not survive, they would have surely still loved the experience. Where is The Blue Hole Located? The Blue Hole is Located a few Kilometers from the North of Dahab which is situated on The Red Sea of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. The Blue Hole attracts many experienced Divers and very curious people World Wide. The Blue Hole which at first sight has a depth of six meters, and this first section is called The Saddle, followed by a Tunnel which is Twenty Six meters long which is known as The Arch, which the Roof reaches Fifty Five meters in height and the bottom reaches to Seaward side of approx.. one hundred and twenty meters. Having easy access directly from the Shore it is famous for Freediving because of the lack of current also, The Blue Hole is known to have the highest diving fatalities in the World, with an approx.. death of one hundred and thirty to two hundred divers from recent Years. The reason as to why the Blue Hole is the most dangerous Diving Site World Wide is really unknown, but there is one certainty and that it is not for the beginner. The Blue Hole Diving Fatalities. The amount of fatalities caused to Divers at The Blue Hole is only estimated, but to any Diver wishing to dive in The Blue Hole should bear in mind that this Place is considered to be the most Life threatning diving Site in the World. With an estimation in the last fifteen Years from 1997 to 2012 an average of eight deaths per anum approx.. one hundred and thirty people have lost their Lives in The Blue Hole. Depicted to be an extreme Diving experience The Blue Hole fatalities have also occurred to people using the Site for Surface Snorkeling which makes the cause of their deaths a puzzle. The Divers who lost their Lives at The Blue Hole were depicted to be highly trained technical Divers and included many Diving Instructors. The Egyptian Chamber for Diving and Water Sports has now positioned Police at The Blue Hole facilities to make sure that the Divers are accompanied by a Certified Guide to follow the necessary Saftey Proceedures. The Death of Yuri Lipski One of the more infamous fatalities at The Blue Hole was the death of Twenty Two Year Old Russian-Israeli Diver Yuri Lipski on April 28th 2000. Yuri’s death was documented on Camera which he carried with him whilst diving and footage was recovered after his death bringing to light what happened among the Diving Community in the World. The video reveals Yuri in a forced and uncontrollable descent reaching the bottom at One Hundred and Fifteen meters deep. The Video reaveals Yuri removing his regulator whilst trying to become weightless but failed to rise, the reason could have been due to nitrogen narcosis making his judgment impaired and lead to a confused and state of panic. Tarek Omar who is one of the World’s best Deep Water Divers recovered the Body the next Day by request of Yuri Lipski’s Mother. Tarek Omar states of his attempts to warn Yuri Lipski of the Dangers of this Dive but failed. The Camera which Yuri used to Film his Dive was discovered at the bottom and to the shock of Omar the footage comprised of Yuri’s dying moments which was not damaged, and this is became available for Divers World Wide on YouTube, which made it one of the most well known deaths in Diving History. The Story behind Diver’s Cemetary at The Blue Hole. Friends and Families of the Divers who sadly lost their Lives at The Blue Hole have left Plaques in the Rocks close to the Site to honor the death of their Loved Ones . The Area is now considered a Divers Cemetary reason being for those bodies which were not discovered following their Deaths.
