Alexandria Port

Alexandria Port. The Sea Port of Alexandria occupies a leading position in the Ports of the Arab Republoc of Egypt, in respect of the amount of Commercial Traffic, with approx..60% of Egypt’s Foreign Trade that is handles. Alexandria is located on the Western edge of the Nile between the Meditteraenean Sea and Lake Mariout . It has more that three quarters of the Country’s Foreign Trade and has two Ports the Eastern Port between the Peninsula and the Shallow Eastern Port which is Not used for navigation. The Port is bounded by the Imaginary Line which joins the two ends of the twp outer Breakwaters. Being Egypt’s Second City and the Largest Port it is ideally Located to serve access to a wide range of Sites. The City offers a display of very interesting Sites from the Greco-Roman Period of the Histpry of Egypt, which includes the rock-cut Tombs of Kom Al-Shoqafa, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. The Al-Alamein Memorial which commemorates the sacrifices made on both sides of one of the most important Battles of World War II, and lies approx.. Sixty Five Miles West of Alexandria. An approx.. three hour drive along the edges of the Nile Delta will lead you to Cairo, where there is a vast amount of sites to be viewed. The Egyptian Museum and the famous Giza Pyramids are not just the only Sites, but the Islamic Historical District offers many Monumental architectural Constructions on display. There are as well more Ancient Sites to visit, Southwest of Cairo in the Desert there are several other Pyramids that the Pharaohs built to be able to construct those that stand on the Plateau above Giza.
