The Colossi of Memnon is located on the West Bank of the River Nile in the magnificent City of Luxor formerly known as Thebes in Ancient times. The Colossi of Memnon Twin Statues are made from Quaetzite Sandstone each measuring 60 feet in height.
When was the Colossi of Memnon Built?
The Colossi of Memnon was built in the 18th Dynasty when Egypt was experiencing a time of prosperity and was known as The Old Kingdom. In this time the architectural work had vastly improved in Egypt and most of the monuments still stand today.
