Philae Temple

Philae Temple The Temple of Philae complex is one of the most beautiful in Egypt.The Temple was Egypt s Ancient Centre dedicated to the Cult of Isis,Osiris and Horus.The Temple consists of different eras from the Pharonic through Greek, Byzantine & Roman periods all lent to add to the Temple rich History. Where is Philae Temple Located? Philae Temple is located on Agikia Island in the beautiful City of Aswan which sits on the Magical River Nile which is downstream of Lake Nasser and Aswan Dam.From Ancient times the Island was believed to be sacred to the Goddess Isis. When was Philae Temple Built? Philae Temple was built in the 3rd Century BC which was followed on by the Temples of Amenhoteph and Arsenovis. The Temple of Hathor is the last of the Ptolomaic monuments and was completed in 116 BC by Erogets II which added inscriptions to the Temple. Philae Temple History & Facts Philae Temple also known as the Temple of Isis was the last Temple to be built in the Egyptian Classical Style. One very interesting part of the Forecourt of the Temple is the Birth House, this was dedicated to Hathor-Isis in honor of the birth of her son Horus. In the last chamber there are reliefs which depicts scenes from the childhood of Horus including one showing him in the guise of a Falcon.
