Ramses IX Tomb

Neferki Ramses IX who was originally named Amon – Khvisheu Khimasut  was the eight King of the Twentieth Dynasty in Egypt, and was the Third King of the Period. His Throne name was Nefer Ker Sitepner, which means Beautiful is the Soul of Rey, and Ramses IX is believed to be the Son of Mentuherkhepeshef, the Son of Ramses III. In 1881, the Mummy of Ramses IX was discovered in the Cache of Deir el – Bahri within one of the two Coffins of Neskhons, the archeological Priest Benban II. The Mummy of Ramses IX Body has been greatly damaged, especially with the fact that the Nose is missing and the modified Skin had all cracked. His Reign is best known for the Tomb Robbery Trials of Year Sixteen and Year Seventeen which is recorded in the Abbot Papyrus Leopold II – Amherst Papyrus.

Dynasty.

Ramesses IX was one of the Kings of the Twentieth Dynasty.

History.

King Ramesses IX reigned for approx.. Seventeen Years, or could have even been more. During his Reign there was a Scandal which was recorded in the Abbott Papyrus, in which apparantley the Tombs in the Theban Necropolis were being robbed, as well as campaigns by Libyan Bandits. He had one Son, Montuherkhopshef , who unfortunately did not live to succeed Ramesses.

Monuments.

His Tomb was discovered in the Valley of the Kings like most of the Kings of the Kingdom.
